I want THIS!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2560646590&category=623

How cool would it be to own THAT?!?!? Damn... And made by the same maker that creates instruments for Norah Jones' dad!

Well, my BP isn't coming down with the Altace. Saw Dr. Narra tonight and it was 160/110. About the same as it was 4 months ago when we started treatment. Good news on the weight front though, in those same 4 months, I've dropped 16 pounds! WOO HOO!! I think I'll have a pizza and some beer to celebrate.

Oh...and... check out this link. Anoushka is Ravi Shankar's other daughter. No less amazing though, in my book!

Reno 911

If you haven't seen this show yet (Reno 911), do yourself a favor and tune in. OMG...it almost makes me pee my pants each and every episode. It's a spoof of COPS with strong influences from Kids in the Hall, Monty Python, and just about every other parody/satire show...it's HILLARIOUS!

Maryellen is working tonight and tomorrow, I'm home bored. I don't usually get bored. I'm looking for some good software to run a chat off of ay-ziggy-zoomba.com and still haven't found anything I like.

I worked this AM from 8 to Noon. That's a great way to start a Saturday. LOL...it was alright. I had to update our fax server software and then we also moved around a bunch of cabinets and furniture to create a kind of IS/IT work area, which has been soreley needed for quite a while. My office is pretty small, and if I need to spread out and work on more than one computer at a time, I'm SOL. Now though, there should be plenty of room!

Now THAT'S football!!

The OSU/BG game was a great time!! I really think BG should have won...3 plays away from it.... Oh well. Ohio State knows how to host a football game though. 104,000 fans! It was simply amazing.

The OSU Marching Band simply IS the Best Damn Band in the Land! They are the bar all other marching bands strive to reach. PERIOD! BG was lucky enough to take our band down, and I'm sure it was a great learning experience for those kids, but when the OSU band came on and played "Fight the Team Across The Field" I had goosebumps and a lump in my throat. Maybe it's because I'm a bando...or maybe it's because I love sports, but I think it's just because those kids were so damn crisp and so damned perfect with every move they made. It was teamwork at its finest. The band is a single entity made up of 225 individuals being the best they can be...

I've never been an Ohio State fan (Go Blue) but I can't deny that they know how to have fun and how to host a football game!

Bring on the Buckeyes!!

Well, the big weekend is almost upon us. BG plays OSU. We're going down to Columbus tomorrow after work, spending the night and then heading to the game on Saturday! I truly thing Bowling Green is going to pull it off, and I truly believe it's going to be a big win, like 2 touchdowns. Not sure why, exactly...I just have one of those feelings.

Here are some photos from the Race for the Cure last weekend.

Not much more to say at this point...life has kind of been in cruise control here lately...

New Website

Well, we launched www.harris4heisman.com tonight. I've always been more of a basketball fan than a football fan, but this year BGSU has an amazing team. And the quarterback, Josh Harris, is one of the top in the nation!! This is our little attempt to raise some of the national exposure for Josh and the BG team. The local Fox affiliate covered the site tonight, and tomorrow the press release goes out to just about every sports contact I can think of nation-wide!!

Race for the Cure

Well, I did my first real 5K today!! Did the Race for the Cure today in downtown Toledo. It was pretty overwhelming...12,000 people. I've got some photos that I'll post here once I get them scanned in. Lots of survivors there. Maryellen ran for her co-worker Jeanette....I was kind of running for my friend, Heidi, who is 27 and just had a double mastectomy. 27.... geez.

Talk about good people watching...the crowd was pretty diverse! Well, as diverse as NW Ohio gets at least. I'm pretty pooped right now. Didn't get much sleep this weekend. Tailgated at the BG game yesterday, which was a ton of fun. This coming weekend is the BG/OSU game in Columbus. It's going to be such a blast knocking off the Buckeyes in the horseshoe in front of 105,000 people!

I'm going to nap I think...

Wordly Wise

Couple of new things for those wordly wise among us...

A great website of common misuses of the English language (such as my all time pet peeve "I could care less"...) is at http://www.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/errors.html.

Another great little tool I've found recently is from m-w.com, a long-time favorite site of mine. They now have a dictionary toolbar available for Internet Explorer.

Yesterday was our 9 year anniversary! Hard to believe we've been married for 9 years. We went out for dinner last night and it didn't go very well. LOL...went to J.Alexander's, and while I liked the rattlesnake pasta I got, Maryellen didn't like her meal at ALL. I don't think she liked anything about the whole evening :-( Oh well. Maybe we'll try again tomorrow night.

I'm going in to work really early tomorrow to do some server maintenance. Hopefully all goes well. Our servers are a few patches behind, so it's time to catch them up a little.

9/11 -- The only thing I'll say about it is that I don't think they should ever stop replaying those images. People forget how terrible it was...how scared everyone was and how awful it made us feel. It unified the nation. That unification is gone after only 2 short years. People don't care anymore. It's sad...

Lots of fun!

We had a fun weekend. It was kind of our anniversary celebration. Our 9th anniversary will be on the 10th, so we used the weekend to have some fun! Did the annual visit to the Black Swamp Arts Festival. It was bigger and better than ever! Then we listened to the BG upset of Purdue!!! Then we went back to BG for a couple of concerts. We met Ed and Margie for the NRBQ concert, and then hung around afterwards to catch the Tom-Tom group. Between concerts we walked around BG and ran into a BUNCH of people we knew!

One of the peeps I saw was Stephen Jenkins, a former co-worker at CISP. He's working on his masters and has PhD aspirations. He's got a webhosting/services company going too. Pretty sweet!

Anyone know a good java based chat server that provides moderated chat at a reasonable price?? I need something permanent to host moderated chats with coaches and players and the like on Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba.com

Burning Man

Well, it's probably not something I'll ever get to do, but Moss just got back from Burning Man and has some photos posted on his site. Check 'em out!

Well, that didn't work...

Well, I just tried to install RedHat 9 on a different hard drive in this box and then migrate all the web stuff over from the original disk. I know I can do that...I just ran out of time I think and didn't want to leave the server down overnight. Oh well. I did pop an extra 64MB of ram in the box while I had it open and also a 2X2X8 CD-RW drive I found. Oooooooooh...speed! Now I can do some backups to disk though instead of across the network.

Next long weekend, I'll have to re-try the whole project.

My truck is back among the living. It was only the fuel filter (which is what I originally thought it was). So that's a $100 fix as opposed to a $400 + fix for a new clutch. That's cool. Now I can take my time getting my new car. According to the latest, the car I want will have more horsepower and torque for 2004, so I think I'll hold out till the new model year rolls in.

Unlike Kris, I haven't gotten a haircut in a long time. I'm due for one, but I think I'll handle things myself again after reading her experience.
