Yesterday

Wow...well, I didn't get to update things yesterday like I had planned, but that was because I was having such an incredible day!!

I got to BG at about 8:30 and set up the truck for tailgating. After that, Goodson and I made our way over to the ESPN College Football Gameday set. Checked things out, and then headed back to the truck for a couple of morning refreshments. We made our way back to GameDay for the actual show and it was incredible!! Banners and posters and signs everywhere! The crowd was rowdy and wild...it was just so awesome!! On our way over there, Coach Dakich was driving in for a flag football game with his son. He stopped and told me not to get arrested. LOL

After Gameday was over (with the www.ay-ziggy-zoomba.com banner in full force), we made our way back to the tailgate party and had some good eats! Brats and the best Lake Erie perch I think I've ever had!! It was SOOOOOOOOOO good! Had a few more beers and met up with Saradhi who surprised me by being there. Finally it was game time so we made our way to the stadium.

The Doyt was packed! A complete sell-out with over 31,000 people in attendance. The crowd was electric, you could just tell something big was going to happen. BG came in and just kicked some serious ASS!! Josh Harris is, without ANY doubt, one of the top 4 or 5 quarterbacks in college football. It's impossible to argue this. That's all. The end. I'm right. He threw for 438 yards and rushed for another 89!! Come on!! This was against one of the top rated defenses in the MAC. He was completely insane!! There's a great article on ESPN.COM about the fact that he's being overlooked by certain selection committees.

The only bad part of the day came when we were leaving, we found out that Maryellen, who came later by herself, lost her car keys...so we had to drive back to Elmore, get our spare pair, and head BACK to BG to get the car. I had no voice at the time, so I couldn't yell at her. ;-)

All-in-all, just an awesome day...best day of football I think I've EVER experienced. Check out all the photos at Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba.com.

On my way...

Heading out to tailgate and see the GameDay crew! I'm going to take my PDA and look for wireless spots on campus to update things as the day goes on. At least that's the plan. Last night it was so cool to tune into ESPN Radio's On Campus and hear the guy with the deep ESPN voice say, "LIVE from Doyt Perry Stadium in Bowling Green, Ohio..." I got goosebumps!!

GO BG!!!

Is it Saturday YET?!?!?!

This week has been SO busy. Work has been just non-stop, which is pretty great! Days fly by. Unfortunately, there has been more than one day this week when I haven't gotten a "proper" lunch. But that's life.

Saw the elder Dr. Narra last night. He was quite pleased with my BP!! Apparently the Lotrel and my weight loss and exercise regimen has started working! I was 120/80. How good is that? It's still a tweak high, actually, but way better than it was! I've lost another 3 pounds too. Only about 10 more to go before I'm at the top of my target range!

I'm watching Raiders of the Lost Ark on DVD right now. It looks BEAUTIFUL!! And the sound in 5.1 sounds pretty amazing too!

I'm getting more and more excited about the BG game this weekend. Unfortunately, the weathercasters are saying the weather is going to be sub-par. So I take solace in the fact that they're rarely right.

Don't forget to tune into ESPN College Gameday on Saturday at 10:30. I'll be the guy with the orange flag that says www.ay-ziggy-zoomba.com on it. I'm SURE you'll see it. Then tune in to ESPN2 at 4 for the game. It's going to be a CRAZY weekend in BG!!

Blech!!

I'm staying home sick from work today. I came home early yesterday, feeling kind of icky...chills, sweats, shakes...etc. When I got home yesterday though, I started feeling a bit better. I went to bed after Joe Schmo last night thinking everything was fine, but then I woke up at 11 and got sick. Then I woke up again at 1 and got sick....after that, I just decided to try to sleep on the floor downstairs since it is closer to the bathroom...but of course, I never got sick again after that. So today, I'm hoping to catch up on some sleep, hoping to FEEL BETTER, and hoping to not annoy my wife too much since she has no tolerance for sick people.

Shows how much I know about baseball...

Well, when I started that post, it was 3-0 Cubs. Now, about 10 minutes later, it's 7-3 Marlins. It's still boring; and what other sport allows you to wear jewelry while you play??

Baseball and the Pledge

I don't really like baseball much. I have been watching the playoff's for the past 2 days though. I find it boring unless the game is close at the end. I do think it's pretty cool that the Cubs look like they're going to win tonight. I love the city of Chicago and think they deserve it. Their teams are so infrequently good. The Bulls owned the 90's but nothing since, the Bears were the same way with the 80's pretty much, but now, they're just bad. The Cubs haven't been to a world series in like 45 years or something? Geez...it's almost like BGSU Basketball and the NCAA tournament.

This whole legality of the Pledge of Allegiance thing is really getting on my nerves too. Why are we SO sensitive about offending people? If you don't want to say the pledge, don't say it. If you don't want your kid to have to say it at school, ok...they don't have to say it. Are we raising mindless robots who MUST say the pledge or they'll be unplugged? It just seems simple and obvious to me. Maybe I'm missing the point...no...I'm not. I'm SURE it won't be long until we start hearing complaints about the National Anthem at sporting events.

Less than 4 days until basketball practice starts!

Meals and Bay-Bees and more pictures

Well, at the prodding of someone, I'm updating this morning...

Had a couple of great meals of late. Not so much the food, but the company has been great! Tuesday evening I met Laurie in Port Clinton. We had a great evening of conversation and food and wine. It's always so nice to catch up, it just sucks that you have to go w/o contact for a while in before you CAN catch up. I also met Coach Dakich at Skyline Chili yesterday. He cracks me up...we just shot the shit really. Not much of substance, but it was fun.

Have you ever noticed how singers kind of take creative license with the word "Baby?" More often than not, they pronounce it "Bay-Bay" and occasionally, it's even "Bee-Bay" (See Seal and Amy Grant). It's Bay-Bee...sheesh.

Heading to Columbus this evening with Ravi for a basketball game. NBA Pre-Season. Former BG player trying to make the Timberwolves, so we're going to go check them out.

There are more Alumni Band photos online now too if anyone is interested in browsing.

The BAND Elwood, the BAND!!

Yesterday was such a blast!! Maryellen and I went back to Bowling Green and marched in the Alumni Falcon Marching band. It was fun to be part of a group like that again after 12 years or so! The I knew 2 of the other 4 mellophones, and by the end of the day, felt like I'd known one other forever! Great picture of us:
Mellos
The mellos coupled with getting to meet and hang out with Blue Lou Marini (From the Blues Brothers' Band) just made the day awesome!!! Chief was there too, the man behind the best Falcon Marching bands ever. Great to see him able to be up and around. All the pictures of the day are available at http://www.ay-ziggy-zoomba.com/images/2003alumniband/lowrez/

They keep coming up with more and better ways of using all the info in their databases. Check out their news alerts (in beta right now). What a GREAT concept!!!
