TTT

If you're a football fan, you've got to check out these clips. Even if you're NOT a football fan, Terrible Terry Tate, the office linebacker, is freaking HILLARIOUS!! You have to register for free, but it's worth the effort.

A TRUE genius passes...

I had the pleasure of meeting Harold McMaster on several different occasions. He was, perhaps, the most brilliant and most prolific inventor of our time. He was on the verge of something huge with the McMaster Motor too...

Now I work for the company he founded. His obituary can be found here.

Dumb crooks...

So, 3:15 AM I hear a pounding on our front door...I drag my butt out of bed and there's a cop on our front porch. He tells me someone just broke into my truck. Dumbasses didn't take anything though. My XM radio was in there and some tools they could have taken...but no...they just opened the door (it wasn't locked) and looked around I guess. Apparently one of the neighbors was up and saw them and called the cops. They didn't catch them though.

They better not call me "Mr. Cummings!"

Well, guess what? I'm going to be teaching Sunday School. Yup...me. G. I KNOW! It's ridiculous, isn't it? I'll be teaching Sr. High students. It should be fun. Maryellen will be helping when she's able, but she usually works either Saturday night or Sunday night...which would make her unavailable. Others will fill in in her absence, or I'll fly solo I guess. Time will tell.

I got my bike Monday. Put it together, bought a tire pump and a helmet and rode for the first time around the block yesterday. I was planning on riding tonight, but got home late b/c my truck doesn't want to run real well when you give it gas. I stopped and bought a fuel filter...but didn't put it in either. Tomorrow night I'll ride, fix the truck, and demolish some of a bathroom.

I'm getting really tired of Microsoft and their "vulnerabilities." It's a pain.

Going to bed now.

What a crazy week!!

Wow...this week exhausted me. From the MSBlaster.exe worm that hit us on Wednesday to the power outage on Thursday to the fact that I still don't have email (at least not on mail.pepperguy.com).

Also, I'm having trouble with the bike I bought on eBay. Actually, no trouble with the bike yet, because I don't HAVE the bike yet. The guy charged me $80 for next-day shipping on my bike, well, he just gave me the tracking number this AM (he said it took a week for my check to clear...whatever), I checked Airborne's website with the tracking # and it said it was shipped "ground." Sooooo...using the info from my tracking # (zip codes, weight, # of pieces, etc...) I used the Airborne Rate Calculator to find out what it cost him to ship it to me ground. Gee...here's a BIG surprise...it cost him $14.09!! I've been screwed out of $65!! Might be time to get Carlson and take a road trip to Sturgeon Bay, WI to "right" the situation. ;-)

I haven't slept well this week either. In fact, I've woken up at 4AM just about every morning. Most days I've gotten back to sleep, but Wed night and Thurs night I just couldn't fall back to sleep.

It's hot today. I don't like hot. I think I'll go to the mall or something. I haven't been to the mall in ages. Or maybe a Best Buy/Thackeray's/Barnes&Noble trip would be good.

Happy Blogiversary!!!

Well, I missed it by a couple of days, but my blog is one year old now. First post was on August 9, 2002. This will be the 237th entry, and there have been 315 comments posted. Fascinating...

Maybe I'll see about sprucing it up a little bit here in the next week or so...lots of plugins for MT that I haven't had time to mess with.

Thanks to all of those who stop by to read...but I think I'd do this even if it was just me. (and sometimes I think it is...LOL)

YUM!!

We found a new Indian restaurant last night. It's on Central Ave...way out towards Sylvania. In what used to be "Mecca" restaurant. They had only been open a few days so we went for supper last night. It's called Indian Kitchen/Mysore Gardens. Apparently they have about 8 restaurants in the Detroit area, but this is their first venture into the Toledo market.

The atmosphere was great. Probably most of the decor of Mecca was still in tact (including what looked like the giant WOK bowl from the CISP conference room), it was a very cool looking restaurant. The main chef was visible to the dining area behind a curved bar/wall. And the feature that drew the eye immediately was the Tandoor oven, with big blue flames inside, clearly visible at the end of the curved bar.

The staff was attentive and quick, if a little overwhelmend. They were short staffed b/c one server just didn't show up, and the restaurant was packed because of the Festival of India that was underway just down the street. Our server stayed happy and smiley though, even though she had to cover the whole restaurant. They had some of the kitchen staff and a buss boy pitching in to help her out. You could tell they were a little embarrassed and would be a great staff under more relaxed conditions. I ordered the "Chilly Chicken" which was very tasty, if not at all what I expected. It was more like wings or fireballs from Jed's, but with a little bit of Indian "flare." I got the Thali option which included sambar, raitha, and bonda along with a bread. The bread was awesome! Desert was rasmalai and it was delicious!

The only real shortcoming was the spicyness. I ordered my dish "very spicy" and it was hardly hot. With a little training, I'm sure they'll be able to cater to my desires though. ;-) All in all, it was a great dining experience. They have a HUGE menu, so it will be fun trying some of the new things that aren't available at Tandoor. It's nice to have an option now for Indian dining in Toledo!

Anyone else get this message???

Strangest spam ever...

Hello,

I'm a time traveler stuck here in 2003. Upon arriving here my dimensional warp generator stopped working. I trusted a company here by the name of LLC Lasers to repair my Generation 3 52 4350A watch unit, and they fled on me. I am going to need a new DWG unit, prefereably the rechargeable AMD wrist watch model with the GRC79 induction motor, four I80200 warp stabilizers, 512GB of SRAM and the menu driven GUI with front panel XID display.

I will take whatever model you have in stock, as long as its received certification for being safe on carbon based life forms.

In terms of payment:
Payment can be made in Galactic Credits, Platinum gold, or 2003 currency upon safe delivery of unit.

INSTRUCTIONS MUST BE FOLLOWED EXACTLY:
Please transport unit in either a brown paper bag or box to below coordinates on Saturday August 9th at (exactly 3:00pm) Eastern Standard Time on the dot. A few minutes prior will be ok, but it cannot be after. If you miss this timeframe please email me. I will not be there prior to 2:45pm EST, (so do not transport before then).

Item is to be delivered at Majority Lane in Woburn, Massachusetts located at: Latitude N 42.49430 & Longitude W 071.14275 and the Elevation is 140 feet.
WARNING: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRANSPORT ITEM BY REGULAR MEANS OF TELEPORTATION. THEY ARE MONITORING AND WILL REDIRECT THE SIGNAL!!
I DO NOT CARE HOW YOU HAVE TO GET IT HERE, JUST DO IT IN A WAY THAT NO SPYING EYES WILL POSSIBLY BE ABLE TO REDIRECT or BLOCK THE TRANSFERENCE. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU BE ABLE TO MONITOR THE TRANSFER.
HOW ARE YOU GOING TO SEND IT SO THAT THEY CANNOT REDIRECT OR BLOCK IT??? If in doubt do not transport actual unit until your method of transfer can be confirmed as a success. You just might need to send a intergalactic courier to deliver item safely to me. If so be VERY careful at how they approach me.

It is best if you send a intergalactic courier to deliver, this way you can be certain the unit arrives ok, However If you are certain that you have the means to teleport unit in a safe manner please send a (separate) email to me at: webmaster@federalfundingprogram.com only after unit has been safely delivered with payment instructions.

Do not reply directly back to this email as it will only be bounced back to you.

This and that...

Not a whole lot new going on. I ran tonight, felt really good! You know what one of the greatest motivators is when you're running? Cheerleaders!! LOL I was just finishing my run tonight, hit my 20 minutes and was about to just walk the rest of the way home, but there were 2 cheerleaders practicing their routines in their front yard. You just CAN'T stop running in front of cheerleaders! LOL...well at least I can't. ;-) In all honesty though, it was a great run. Farthest and longest I've gone yet!

I'm thinking about getting a bike. I think a little cross-training would do my knees and shins some good. One of the guys I work with is a hard-core cyclist and he's recommended a few bikes for me for starting out and just riding...not racing or anything. I'm looking at the Specialized Sirrus. Apparently I can get a great deal on one from the Mountain Man Ski Shop in Toledo. If that doesn't work, I can just camp out on eBay and find one.

My bud Nora is at band camp this week. It's bringing back lots of memories from YEARS ago. Let's see...my first band camp would have been the summer of '84. Wow...that's almost 20 years. No matter how much fun is made of it (this one time...at band camp...) it was a great time, it was a great learning experience and it was a great part of growing up! I think Maryellen and I will go up to Lakeside Thursday for the end-of-camp concert and show. It'll be cool to see the place again and I think Nora will appreciate the support.

I think I may have finally found facial hair I like.
