"new" browser

I just downloaded and am using Mozilla Firebird. It's fast, stable so far, and has some really sweet features.

Try it out yourself! I like it better than IE already.

I'm a badass radio programmer!!

We're right in the middle of Grant's 80's hour on XM radio. This is so cool!!

Nothing like an hour of music where you know every word to every song!! Plus I got to talk to Heidi Selexa this evening. She's very sweet and has fun with her job. What an awesome job she has too!! That would be a dream job for me. DJ on a nation-wide all 80's station. Come on...could it get any better than that!??!

Here's what she played for me:

Heat of the Moment -- Asia
Do you Believe in Love -- Huey Lews and the News
99 Luftbaloons -- Nena
Leave It -- Yes
Tempted -- Squeeze
Rosanna -- Toto
Video Killed the Radio Star -- Buggles
Misled -- Kool and the Gang
Human Touch -- Rick Springfield
All Fired Up -- Pat Benetar
Goodbye to You -- Scandal
Forever -- Kenny Loggins
Perfect Way -- Scritti Politti
Let's go all the Way -- Sly Fox

Thanks again Heidi!

Good weekend!

Well, I had a good and productive weekend! Our fence is up!! WOO HOO!!! All that remains to be done is to make our gates and get them hung. Otherwise, our back yard is all fenced in. We did it for less than $1000 which is pretty awesome, considering that we got an estimate of $3000 to have it done! I think it looks as good as it would had it been professionally done!

Last night we went up to Ann Arbor for a Ravi birthday dinner. It was awesome too. Mongolian BBQ...very very yummy! Sue went along too. Nice evening. Downtown Ann Arbor is very cute. Lots of restaurants with outdoor dining areas, quite a few little art galleries, used book stores, indie music stores...my type of place. It must have been prom night in AA to. Lots of kids in limo's wearing tuxedos and formal dresses. Ahhhhh youth.

Awesome thread on my other site

There's been a discussion on my other website (www.ay-ziggy-zoomba.com) regarding college, careers, life, etc. Ay-Zig is mostly a BGSU sports forum, but this thread has really been interesting and is not sports related. It's worth a read if you've ever wondered if you're in the right line of work (who hasn't??) or if you've ever questioned whether college/education was worth it. "Flipper's" entry near then bottom is especially good! Check it out!

Not much going on in there I guess

Well, the CT scan came back with nothing abnormal except for a light enlargement of my pancreas. Ravi said that would have nothing to do with my pain though. Next up...the butt-scope!! They should call me tomorrow to schedule the fun-fest.

Work was actually kind of bad today for the first time since I've been at Glasstech. I was a little out of my element. Most of my day was spent in meetings and doing other people's work. It bugged me. Plus my innards were hurting BIG time today which made things even more enjoyable.

Anyone else out there ever read "The Grounhog" by Richard Eberhart or ANYTHING by Richard Eberhart for that matter? It's too long to post here, but it's one of my favorite poems. Nora asked me about my favorite authors and it brought it back to my memory. Just an awesome image painted by that poem. Oh...actually, here. Read it!!

We refinanced our mortgage today...or I should say Maryellen did. She's pretty damned good at saving money!! We'll save about $25,000 over the course of the loan with this new rate! Awwwwwww Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

This is so cool!

Well, the ultimate 80's babe, Heidi Selexa, has offered to let me program an hour of music on XM Channel 8!! How freaking sweet is that?!?!? I'm seriously excited, but it's hard to pick out just an hour of my favorite music from my favorite era.

I'll post the list here when it's done and will also let you know when it's going to be on air. I know Greene has XM and I think Sam does too; if you don't, here's a great reason to get it!! LOL...you can hear Grant's 80's Hour!!!

Please help me out and post any suggestions. I'm not looking for "Bad" or "Come on Eileen"...while they're great songs, I like 80's music that was a bit more obscure. I'm talking Limahl's "Never Ending Story" or the Moody Blues "The Voice." Awesome, amazing songs that just don't get any airtime anymore. Rick Springfield's "Human Touch." (I mean come on "Everybody's talking to computers we're all dancing with a drum machine") Songs that just oooze 80's!!

Thanks Heidi!!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm...Barium!

Well, I have my CT scan tomorrow at 4 at St. Charles. From 10 AM on, I can only have clear liquids and then at 2 I get to drink the half-quart of barium contrast stuff.

I told my mom what's going on tonight. She took things very well. I expected her to be a little more nervous/excited about the news, but she wasn't. That's good.

I dunno what's going on inside my gut...but I hope they find out. Maybe I can get the films and get them online somehow. Sweeeeeeet.

Hmmmmmmmmm...

Well, Ravi was concerned. Not usually a great thing when your doctor is concerned, but it's better than having him send me to the ER or something. He ordered a CT scan of my abdomen w/contrast. Mmmmmmmmmm...contrast. THEN we get to do the colonoscopy. Joy joy joy.

Right now I'm fasting. I have to fast b/c I have bloodwork done tomorrow. For those of you who don't know, I do NOT do needles well. I've gotten a little better since I started giving Maryellen a shot every week for her MS...but I still don't do needles well. It's not the pain of it going in, b/c that really doesn't hurt much, it's once it's in there...and you KNOW it's in there...and they're hooking up that vacu-tainer thing and popping it off and popping on another one...I get queasy just thinking about it.

So, that's what I know. I hurt quite a bit more now that "Dr. Narra" poked and prodded, but I'm a little less nervous I guess. Oh...and my blood pressure sucks big time. But we already knew that. He wants to medicate me for that, but only after we figure out what's going on in my lower right quadrant.

I'm hungry.

Doobie do down down

I'm just down. I try to stay up and happy, but lately I'm just down in the dumps.

Tomorrow I see the doctor. I see Ravi. It'll be the first time I've ever seen my best friend since 4th grade as my physician. I've got some pain that's really scaring me, I've had it for about a week now. My brain tells me it's just my bad back presenting itself in another way, my subconscious tells me "Your dad died of colon cancer." SO we'll see what Ravi says, maybe get a scope shoved up there to look around and go from there. A scope, while it sounds really uncomfortable, is probably a good idea with the history of Colon CA in my family. I think I'll ask about my BP too. His dad has always just kind of down-played it, but I want to hear Ravi's take on it.

Today was the auction of Maryellen's dad's home and contents. I wanted to go, but couldn't. Sounds like everything went well. The house sold for more than expected to some psycho guy. I'm just glad M won't have to drive back and forth anymore. It was wearing on her big-time.

Did I mention I'm down?

In a major reversal...I now like the Pistons. 10 years ago, I HATED the Pistons. But Ben Wallace is the MAN!

Now I will go to bed.

Deflated...

Ugh...rough day. This morning it was announced in church that we're losing BOTH our pastors. Pastor Cindee, I knew about, and while I really like her, it won't impact me too much personally. The announcement of Pastor Chow leaving though...came as a total surprise and hit me hard.

Mark is one of my favorite people of all time. He has been there for me every single time I've needed him, from the death of my dad, to being unemployed to having some other personal issues that basically only he and I know about...he's just an amazingly caring man. He helped my dad SO much during the uncertainties at the end of his life. He drove down to Columbus to see dad in the hospital after his surgery...he was there with us at dad's bedside when he died. He's the whole reason I started going to church again...the reason I feel more like a full person again. He took me from thinking church was a bunch of crap and a waste of time to feeling like I was loved by a community of people and a higher power. And as of July 7, he'll no longer be at the Woodville United Methodist Church.

This is a guy who, during the preparations for my dad's funeral, took me from crying to laughing because he quoted "The Life of Brian" saying "Blessed are the cheesemakers." Now any time the Beattitudes come up in church, he can't read that line w/o pausing and grinning at me.

I, of course, wish him well, and I'm sure he'll be able to touch more people in his new position than he ever could in little old Woodville, but the selfish me really wants him to stay. Those of you who know me well, know that I'm a total sap, and I'm completely choked up right now...man this sucks. I'm going to bed.

Mini Me

So, I've found a mini-me. LOL...actually she's a mini-she. I'm working on some music with Nora and as I get to know her, she's very much like I was at 16, only with one more X chromasome than me. :-) We're going to play a Schumann duet, "Voice of Love" for flute and horn and then the other thing is going to be an original arrangement of "All People That on Earth do Dwell" for flute, trumpet and trombone. I'm actually arranging it...or trying to at least.

Anyhow...Nora rules. :-)

You know, Kiefer Sutherland is all big and famous now because of 24 or whatever. I've never seen it, but every time I see him on an ad or a commercial, I can't help but think of 2 lines from one of the greatest movies ever, Stand By Me:

Gordie (Wil Wheaton) was such a hard-ass when he said to Ace (Kiefer) near the end:

"Suck my fat one you cheap dime store hood"

...and the line that gives me goosebumps every time...

Ace: "Whatt're ya gonna do, shoot all of us?"
Gordie: "No Ace....Just you."

I think I need to watch that now.
