Good weekend!!

Well, it's Monday morning again and it hardly feels like it should be Saturday. The weekend FLEW by, but that's probably because we did fun stuff and were moving around all weekend.

Friday evening we met Ravi at his house and then went to the Parade of Homes in Perrysburg. We do this at least once a year and this was the best collection of homes I've seen in my years of going. There wasn't one of them that I wouldn't have loved to live in! It REALLY got us itching to build too. I hope we can find a piece of land and start building within a year or two. One house in particular was just about perfect in layout and quality...built by Arden Homes. Don't let the price on that page fool you...this house could easily be built for about $225,000 and STILL have bells and whistles that others don't.

A couple of the homes had basement home theatres. Droooooooooooooooool. One in particular had a 110" projection system hooked up to a HDTV receiver. Oh my GOD was it awesome!! For the first time ever I saw Maryellen get excited about something like that. As soon as we got into that basement she said "Oh...I've GOT to have this." :-)

Saturday was work in the yard day...and I ran the first day of my week 3 regimen...felt pretty pooped...

Yesterday then we went to see Peter Gabriel at what used to be Pine Knob north of Detroit. The trip there and back was awful, but the concert was AMAZING!! PG is just a genius...and at 50+ he still runs around and has fun on stage! At one point he got into this 15' high inflatable clear plastic ball and bounced all over the stage. Probably the best "rock" concert I've ever been to! Just a blast.

Interesting demographics at the concert too. Everything from teens on dates to 50 somethings. Had an interesting lesbian couple in front of us who were just ALL OVER each other. Had the fat, pot-smokers to our right...they lit up their doobies about 10 minutes into the concert dude...and we had the clove cigarette smoking guy behind and to our right. Mmmmmmmmm...they smelled SO good!

So, after all of that, I got home and to bed at about 1:30 this morning. I'm dragging tail a little bit, but will survive.

WET!!!

Well, I guess an update is in order. The colonoscopy went ok. They found a few minor things, nothing that I need to be concerned about though. The whole procedure was quite interesting, to say the least. Versed and Demerol are interesting drugs! Versed is an amnesic and while you're awake and pretty much with it for the procedure, you remember almost nothing about it afterwards. Very strange. Demerol is just a kick-ass pain med. They kept giving me more and more though! When the procedure started my doctor came and they wheeled me into the scope room and the doctor was drinking the most amazing smelling cappucino. I objected!! "How can you do that to me?!?! I haven't been able to eat or drink anything good in over 24 hours and you come in here with THAT?!?!?" He laughed and apologized. When I came to in recovery, he brought me a big cup of that cappucino! Gotta love that!! If anyone in NW Ohio is having to have a scope done, I'd highly recommend Dr. Shah. He was great!

I ran tonight and just felt great! Was out for 27 minutes and it was pouring down rain for about 24 of them. I mean POURING. I felt like a Nike or Reebok commercial! Gotta admit, I'm kind of proud of myself for going out and running in the rain. It would have been an easy excuse not to, but it ended up being the best run I've had yet!

Going to the Parade of Homes tomorrow, Maryellen works Saturday and then we go up to see Peter Gabriel on Sunday! WOO HOO!!

I think I'll have a colonoscopy today.

Well, I have my colonoscopy in a few hours...Have to be there at 10:30 and they do the procedure at 11:30. I'm nervous. I don't like needles and I have to have an IV, and I get spooked about the little things that could go wrong. Not so much worried about what the scope could find...more worried about what could go wrong with the anesthetic, the scope itself, etc... It's dumb to worry about that stuff, I know...but I do anyhow.

I haven't eaten anything in over 24 hours now. That's pretty impressive! I'm sure I "evacuated" a few pounds yesterday too. Good LORD that stuff is something. It wasn't so terrible to drink (I got lemon/lime) but the experience left me...um...raw. Not pleasant.

So...here I sit and wait I'll head to the hospital in a couple of hours and hopefully everything will go well.

Sunday night

Finished off the fence completely today! Cut all the posts down to the same height and put cute little French fineals on them, it looks so damn cute!! I'll have to take some photos and post them. Quite proud of the fence are we.

Tomorrow I work half a day and then come home and drink stuff that cleans out my colon. OH BOY!! Then Tuesday AM I have my colonoscopy at St. Charles. Maryellen actually thinks she's going to be able to "assist" or at least get back there while the procedure is going on to watch things on the screen. I guess for a nurse that might be interesting. Personally, I have no desire to see the inside of my spouse's colon. LOL

I started week 2 of my running yesterday. Things are going pretty well. Suffering from some shin-splints, but I think once I drop a few more pounds that should clear up. We went to Dave's Running Shop yesterday and got me some real live running shoes!! Turns out I've got extremely wide feet. The shoes I got are 4E width, but are only size 10. I've been wearing 11s, but mostly because the smaller ones felt tight around the sides, not because I needed the length. Interesting...probably just needed wider shoes rather than bigger ones to begin with.

We go see Peter Garbiel a week from tonight!

Oh yeah, and Nora continues to rule!

YAWN

Been a while since I've blogged now han'it? Well, let's see. The weekend prior was fun. We ended up NOT going to CP though. The rest of the weekend was just too busy and we woke up Sunday just not feeling like going. No matter...the summer is long and we'll get there eventually.

I've been playing with a tablet PC at work. I've got to say, I don't really see what all the hype is about. I'm still much faster on my laptop with a keyboard than I am with a "pen" for entry. I can type much faster than I can write....keyboard shortcuts are MUCH faster than tapping here and there... I just don't get the advantage of pen entry. It IS nice and lightweight...but so are lots of laptops. Maybe I'm just dense.

Finished up the gates on the fence tonight. Replaced my "cleat" that is where the gate termintated against the garage wall. I had used a 2X4 and it just didn't look right, so I removed that and put up a treated 4X4 to match the rest of the fence posts. Put the latch hardware on and it's all set.

OH...Guess what?!?!? I'm running! Following in the footsteps of my dad, I've begun jogging again. I say again, because I ran Cross Country in Jr. High. My dad ran religiously for years, logging thousands of miles. He even ran a full-length marathon. I've always had trouble finding motivation to keep up an exercise routine...but Maryellen said something the other day that might just have been the trick. She's been running for about a month now and recommended I try it. She said "Think how impressed your dad would be!" That was all it took. The program I'm doing is at NewRunner.com and so far, it's actually kind of fun!

If you worked at CISP and especially in the fish bowl, this may interest you.

Hump day...

This week has been LONG already. Last week was the same way. Not sure why exactly, it just seems like it should be Friday already.

Got a pretty big weekend ahead. Friday night we're going to Spaghetti Warehouse for the going-away party of a co-worker of Maryellen's. Saturday, we're going to Tandoor to meet the Slotterbecks and then going over to their new house. Should be fun. Sunday we're planning on Cedar Point!

We've gone on Father's Day the past couple of years. The crowds are small...and the people watching is fantastic! It's unofficially "Gay Day" at the Point on Father's day...I don't know if that keeps some ignorant people away or what, but I think it's the best day to go! The Top Thrill Dragster coaster has been down the past couple of days, I sure hope it's running on Sunday. 0 to 120 MPH in 4 seconds and over 400FT high...Mmmmmmmmmmmm.... I can't WAIT!!

Mmmmmmmmmmm

Damn!! I'd love to try a snoot-full of that stuff. Every Sam Adams employee gets a free bottle. Not a bad deal!

I've had some of the DogFish Head stuff they mention at the bottom of the article. Very very good stuff, but it hits you pretty fast and pretty hard!

I've gotta get me one of these...

Maybe I'll see if my boss will get me one for my office?

Word

It's been a crazy weekend/Monday. The weekend was really busy. Maryellen worked on Friday night. So that kind of compressed the weekend. Saturday I was at the church until about 9:30 working with Pastor Chow on a PowerPoint presentation for the graduating seniors of the church. It was really cool, about 170 slides with about 200 images. Mark played and sang an original song for them while the PPT presentation was going on too. Very cool! Sunday at church then, the Seniors were all honored and they all just LOVED the PPT. Each one wants a copy of it. Pretty impressive class of kids.

Today at work was just plain hectic. We had a UPS take a dive knocking out 2 servers this AM. Plus it looks like our Dell tape auto-loader is fried so we're looking at buying a replacement unit. It'll be nice because the new unit is 8 slots whereas the current one is only 7. I couldn't do a full backup of all our servers on 6 40GIG tapes (the seventh slot is the cleaning tape), but I should be able to on 7. Damn CAD drawings take up a lot of space.

The new Jewel CD is pretty good.

I bought Close Encounters of the Third Kind on DVD but haven't watched it yet.

Pomp

I believe it was 15 years ago today that I graduated from high school. For some reason, that makes me feel old. Especially when I think that my buddy Nora was ummmmmm....1 YEAR OLD when that happened?!?!? Sheesh.
