Relief

I'm getting a little ticked at people (other countries and the UN) turning the tsunami relief effort into a political thing. WHO CARES WHERE THE MONEY COMES FROM?!?! Get the money and aid to these people who despeately need it as fast as you can!! Apparently the UN is whining that the "Aid Coalition" led by the USA, Japan, Australia and India is undermining their efforts... SHUT UP!!

OH, and the USA is being stingy with our relief efforts too...
Here's a list of some stingy companies...

People, countries, news media, and everyone just needs to shut up and help each other. Go make a donation (2)(3), say a prayer, do something!!

Spruced up a little bit...

Well, I broke down and updated my templates. They look pretty generic, but hey, it's fast, it's "elegant" and I'll tweak things as time goes by. Apparently my "noses" were scaring some readers. *sigh*

Did I mention I ordered my Powerbook??? ;-)

Well, that was different!

Well, my day changed pretty quickly when my boss called this AM and said we had a hard drive fail on our main SQL server. SOOOOOO, my day off was spent working at Glasstech. Joy. It was kind of satisfying b/c we popped a new HD in, restored the data and the registry from tape and then we were up and running again (with some MINOR issues with the SCSI RAID array). So, all was well. This server was our DHCP server and housed all of our print queues too, so we pretty much had to get it up and running by tomorrow AM when we're actually open...

Still, I'd have much rather stayed home.

I DID order my Powerbook though!! :-)

Hum de dum

It's 5AM on a Tuesday morning when I don't have to go to work. I've been up for over an hour. Just can't sleep. Not good.

I don't have a lot to say, but felt compelled to do something "productive" with my time this AM.

Christmas was good, if a little different. Maryellen and I had the whole day to ourselves. Mom and her boyfriend flew out to Phoenix, AZ on Christmas morning. So, we had nothing to do but relax and enjoy ourselves! M was supposed to work Christmas eve too, but she got to take on-call because the hospital census was low, so she ended up being home all Christmas Eve which made for a more "normal" Christmas day.

I'm going to order my PowerBook today!! Guess I'll post an update after doing that.

From WTOL.COM

South and East of Toledo: Accumulating snow is already falling and will continue overnight. Total accumulations will range from 8" to as much as 18". This is a very dangerous storm. Please plan travel carefully and be sure to check on friends and relatives, especially the elderly as this storm progresses.

Will someone PLEASE check on me?!?!

Weather Nazis

Why is cold weather in December in Ohio the lead story on every news broadcast in the city? Come ON people!!! Yes, it was cold this morning (it was 3 degrees farenheit when I got up). Yes, it's the first really cold day of the season. You know what though?? It gets cold EVERY SINGLE YEAR!! They do the same stupid stories every year (did you know you can get frostbite with just MINIMAL exposure to these temperatures?? AND you shouldn't forget about your pets?!?!!?) they send the most junior reporter out into the sub-zero wind chill, and he/she report with rosy cheeks and a pink nose... The anchors always say "Get back in out of that cold "

I am NOT looking forward to later this week when we're forecast to have 6" of snow... I'm sure they're already preparing their alarmist reports!

On a completely unrelated note, there's a bunch of new photos from the two family Christmases we've had thus far in the gallery. It will interest my family more than anyone else... but hey, you're all welcome to peep them out.

Another Monday

Well, another Monday is upon us. It's one of those "just don't wanna do it again for another week" kind of Mondays so far, but I'm sure it'll get better once I get to work. Right now, I'm just wishing I was more able to call in sick. (I've never been able to call in sick when I'm not sick... damn that conscious).

Finished up my Christmas shopping yesterday, well, with the exception of one more present we need to get for my mom. I even wrapped a couple of Maryellen's gifts last night and put them under the tree. :-) Shopping yesterday was surprisingly enjoyable! I usually really hate it, but I went to Franklin Park Mall, and found the new parking structure they've built... I drove up to the top and parked RIGHT AT THE DOOR of Dillards. It was amazing. NO ONE was using this parking garage, instead they were driving around and around on the surface lots, getting mad... that just really started the shopping trip out right.

I went in, did my shopping, got myself a bite to eat, did some serious people watching and came home. It was really kinda fun!

I'm on NO sleep!

Good lord. I've been fighting this cold for going on a week now and thought I was feeling better as of Saturday. We ended up going to the Tuckerman Family Christmas in Archbold on Saturday and I've felt crappy again since! Last night I could NOT sleep. I ended up coming down to the couch at about 12:30 so I didn't keep Maryellen awake with my coughing and throat clearing...watched Fresh Prince for a while, then a biography of Ben Franklin on the History Channel... I was up until about 4...and then slept restlessly until 6.

This should be a GREAT day... (sarcasm)

Boo Bees

Ok. I'm not a "boob man" per se... I prefer faces, eyes, smiles, etc... so why am I posting about boobs?? Well, because I happened upon this pretty unique boob site. Check out Breast Pals.

This lady "paints" with her boobs. They're actually pretty cute (the paintings, that is...) and she's donating 50% of her profits to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the National Breast Cancer Coalition.

And no, I wasn't surfing for boobs when I found this... It was a link in a newsletter I get. REALLY!! ;-)

And on a totally unrelated note, here's Nora saluting! :-)

That picture just makes me smile.
