Well, I've been bitten by the "comet bug!" Over the last few weeks, I've been amazed and awestruck by the sight of comet Hale-Bopp in the skies of Northwest Ohio. The last time people on Earth saw this comet, they still lived in CAVES!! It won't be seen again until after the year 4000!! So this is obviously a once-in-a-lifetime event.

So, in light of these facts (no pun intended), I decided to try to take some pictures of this comet. I searched the internet and found some really great information on taking pictures of this comet, and, for the most part, the quality of pictures have greatly exceeded my expectations!!

If you want more information on comet Hale-Bopp, there are a ton of websites out there devoted to it...I suggest starting at the Space Views website. They have just about all the links there you could ever use and they're divided up into categories.

There is also a site that has some breathtaking images of the comet from Norway and also from around the world...Jarle Aasland set the site up and was nice enough to put one of my pictures up before I had a page dedicated to them. Check his site out!!

Click on any of the following thumbnails for a larger picture, and please let me know what you thought...but more importantly, get out and see comet Hale-Bopp while it's still here...PLEASE!! You don't need anything other than your eyes. If you have a pair of binoculars, or a telescope, great, but really, it is amazing to see with just the naked eye. Don't miss the only chance you'll ever get!!
