Gay marriages

Tuel chimes in on the whole gay marriage issue. I love the way Kris thinks and writes!

Personally, I don't think it's the government's place to dictate marriage. Wasn't marriage originally a religious ceremony anyhow? What about that whole "separation of church and state" thing? Oh yeah...I forgot, Christmas is a federal holiday.... ;-)

From above

A friend of mine was at the last BG basketball game and was taking photo's from the rafters (it's what he does) and he saw me taking a picture, so he snapped it. Kind of a cool picture from a different perspective. I liked it.

Mars and cool stuff

I can't believe how little press and interest the fact that we've got 2 rovers cruising around on the surface of another planet has generated lately. Personally, I think it's one of the coolest things that's happened in my lifetime! We've got these two vehicles moving around, exploring, experimenting and allowing us to learn about a planet that is very much like ours will be in a billion or so years, and no one seems to care! I check in every day and read the press releases and look at the newest photos because I sure won't see them on the news or read about them in the main-stream press. Thank God for the Internet. Check it out yourself at http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov.

I think this thing is cool.

Gotta give a shout-out to Eddo. He mentioned a new artist to me, Joss Stone, and while I think he noticed her mostly for her looks (she IS cute) I picked up her CD today (The Soul Sessions) and was completely blown away. This girl has got SOUL! She's got the pipes of Janis and the soul of Aretha...and she's a 16 year old white girl from England. (in fact, I'm listening to it right now, and she's got BETTER pipes than Janis...in fact, she sounds like no one I've ever heard!!). Pick up this CD if you're into good blues/soul music (think Blues Brothers soundtrack). It's going to be fun to follow her career. This CD is all covers of classic soul songs, but her new CD coming out later this spring, is all original stuff. I can't WAIT!

Miles

Well, today was my second fill-up of my new car, which means it was my first mileage calculation. For my first tank of diesel I got 40.66 MPG. Not bad at all for the break in period!! I've made up a little Excel spreadsheet to track things like MPG, total fuel costs/mile and other geeky things like that. There's also a pretty cool service I found online that will do it for you at Web-Cars.com. Did I mention how wonderful heated seats are?!?!?! Today I used my mirror defrosters too. hehehehe...cool!

Oooooooooh. I just found this too at SourceForge. I think I'll set this up somewhere and test it out!

I was reading Tuel's blog today and while my heart broke for her, I remembered (who knows why) a name from our past. We (Kris and I) were doing level 2 support, level 3 support...whatever. We were taking escalations and getting some direct calls from our hosting customers for the former GlassCity Internet. We had a pretty cool phone system that had callerID that popped up on your screen. It was pretty ahead-of-its-time really (but I digress). Anywho...Kris and I had some repeat offenders that we kind of dreaded. One was a very foriegn lady we only knew as JJ. (Zhay-Zhay) She was SO hard to understand and always called frazzled. Well, I think she usually showed up as unlisted or something, but one day her last name actually came across on caller ID, and I've never forgotten it. It was JJ Phabungmatrawara. That's right, Phabungmatrawara. Anyhow...I think I took a screen shot of that, and tiled it as my work wallpaper for a while. I shot Kris an email today reminding her of our friend JJ...

What other wonderful people did we support?? I remember Quaint Antiques (LOL...nice website now), her name was Rachel. God...Rachel would call/page us before our WhatsUP server would!!

There was also the woman who ran the collectible/crap shop in Franklin Park. She sold things like blown glass miniature elephants and other crap. I can't think of her name though. KLT, can you help me out?

Anyone else have any good tech support memories? One of my favorite was when I went to lunch one day, came back and Todd Krabach had taken over my desk/cube. Nice.

Workin' for the weekend

I'm so tired this week. I just haven't felt very good. Wake up feeling sleepy...etc. Oh well. It's almost the weekend.

Not sure what's going on this weekend. I know we're going to the Toledo auto show and then out for dinner on Saturday, but beyond that, I don't have a clue.

I'm really tired of the Democratic candidates and the primaries and stuff.

I think the stuff they're getting back from Mars is just fascinating, awesome and amazing. See for yourself! I check in every day.

My car still rules! Wanna see another picture?? I knew you did. :-)

The new Norah Jones CD is really REALLY good!! Best song on it is "Humble Me."

YAY

I love my new car! Picked it up late on Thursday and drove it to and from work yesterday. It's just sweet! I'll take some pics when the weather is less sloppy and post them.

Well, the weather didn't get much better, but here's the first pic.

Well poop

No car today. It'll be ready after 11AM tomorrow, so I'll have someone take me over there on my lunch hour and drive it back to work. YAY!

Vroom!

Well, it looks like I'll get my new car tomorrow, or Thursday at the latest!! I actually found one just like the one I ordered at a dealer up in Detroit. I let my dealership here in NW Ohio know about it and they called up there, did a swap and will sell it to me in lieu of the order I placed. WOO HOO!! I'm kinda pumped about that, to say the least.

We're coming up on the 1 year anniversary of Maryellen's dad's death. It's stirring up lots of emotions from what we all went through last year at this time and just memories from Maryellen's past. Kinda melancholy times.

I'm doing a little side job tomorrow night for a few bucks. That's cool! Then I have another one lined up for this weekend. Making a little jack on the side is always great! Plus, hopefully I can help these people/companies out for a rate a bit better than what they'd pay for a "consultant" to come out...and still do a good job for them.

I have been having trouble sleeping of late. It's always the same too, I go to bed, fall right asleep and then wake up and am unable to get back to sleep. It sucks. Sunday I slept about 3 hours I think...and last night I got maybe 1.5 or 2. So...needless to say, I was a little sleepy today. Hopefully tonight I'll just be dead to the world for the whole night!
